Types of Library Cards

Resident Card

Any Frio Canyon resident and/or property owner is eligible for a free library card. Positive photo identification and proof of local residency or property ownership is required; i.e., county tax bill, recent utility payment, landlord lease, etc.
Minors who want a library card must have an adult sponsor. The adult sponsor must be 18 years or older and is responsible for material checked out on the minor’s card. When the minor turns 18, an adult account can be established under his/her responsibility.

Non-Resident Card

Individuals or families living outside the county service area may obtain a library card for a fee of $10.00 with positive photo identification required. Cards should be renewed every 6 months.

The Texshare Card Program is a reciprocal borrowing program designed to allow the registered users of participating institutions to directly borrow materials from libraries of other participating institutions in Texas. People interested in using the TexShare program must receive a TexShare card from their home library to check out materials from the Real County Public Library. Cards are issued to one individual and are non-transferrable.
Texshare cards are set to expire on the date set by the home library that issued the TexShare card to the user.
