The Library

The Real County Public Library Leakey is located at 225 Main St (at the corner of Evergreen) in downtown Leakey, Texas. The Library provides free services to all residents of and visitors to Real County and the Frio Canyon. The Library is an IRS designated 501(c)3 organization, as is the Friends of the Library, who owns the Library building and property.

The library system holds over 18,329 materials including adult books (regular, LARGE PRINT, paperback, and audio books on CD), young adult, junior and children's books and audio, and DVDs.

In total, over 10,500 items were checked out from either the Library (8,986) or as ebooks from the Lone Star Digital Library (1,536).Over 16,089 people entered the library to utilize print and electronic reference resources, and/or access the Internet through one of the library's 10 public computers (more than 4,500 computer uses). Many patrons use their own devices using our 24/7 state-of-the-art wi-fi service and we recorded over 6,000 wi-fi connections this year. Other patrons come to the library for services such as lamination, and CD repair, make photocopies (color and black and white), or to fax, scan or email. Yet others come or return to participate in Summer Reading Program or story hour, or to attend a training class or workshop, an author presentation, or to view a Library exhibit.

Our friendly and professional staff and volunteers are eager to serve you. Welcome to the Real County Public Library!
